POSITION: Maintenance Worker DEPT: Public Works
TERM: Full-Time SALARY: 17.50/ hour
REPORTS TO: Public Works Manager Close Date: Open Until filled

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of work in the maintenance and repair
of Swan Lake First Nation buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment at various facilities/sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Repair and maintain buildings and grounds of Swan Lake First Nation to include carpentry work,
electrical, plumbing, painting, landscaping where required
• Performs minor repairs and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, repair door hinges, change
filters on various ventilation units
• Performs basic carpentry repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors and fences,
• Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and
drains; replaces seals and other minor parts
• Performs basic electrical repair work for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, appliances, and
lighting systems; reports unsafe electrical conditions
• Maintains all building grounds in clean, safe, and orderly manner including mowing, trimming,
weeding, aerating, minor pest management, composting and fertilizing lawns; replaces plants as
needed; sets sprinklers; replaces broken sprinkler heads; adjusts automatic time clocks and
system pressure if necessary; cleans debris from grounds, pathways and parking lots; maintains
grounds maintenance equipment; prunes trees and shrubs
• Cleans debris from roof gutters as necessary
• Maintains equipment and performs repairs; arranges for servicing
• Assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed
• Maintains clean, safe and orderly work sites
• Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge and experience using hand powered tools
• Knowledge of maintenance of small engine repairs
• Ability to operate small machinery
• Communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older,
• Must be physically fit and able to do manual labour,
• Willing and able to work long hours in inclement weather,
• Must be a team player, reliable and organized,
• Experience operating heavy equipment would be an asset,
• Familiar with construction methods, tools, and materials an asset.
