POSITION: Water Truck Operator
TERM: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Public Works Management

The Water Truck Driver is responsible for the delivery of water to residences, offices and businesses of Swan Lake First Nation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver water to residences, buildings, businesses and other facilities as per scheduled route
• Safely operate water truck and water pump system to haul loads of water. Must evaluate the daily load
hauling schedule to figure out the most efficient route to follow when going to locations
• Maintain a daily log of water delivery; assure that paperwork and log are completed accurately and
forwarded to SLFN Management daily.
• Assist other drivers when necessary
• Ensure during pre-inspection, the Water truck is maintained and in good working condition
• Responsible for minor repairs and maintenance of truck; check oil, tires and hoses daily; notify Senior
Project department of any problems immediately
• Clean water tank as required
• Respond to requests for water delivery
• Practice workplace safety daily
• Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older,
• Must be physically fit and able to do manual labour,
• Must be a team player, reliable and organized,
• Experience operating heavy equipment would be an asset,
• Familiar with construction methods, tools, and materials an asset.
• Knowledge of water delivery procedures;
• Must abide by the Rules of Operation for the Water Truck
• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety/ equipment cleaning standards and procedures
• Knowledge of scheduling system and procedures
• Ability to operate a single axle truck in a safe and responsible manner
• Client service and public interaction skills
• Immediate decision-making skills
• Willing and able to work long hours in inclement weather,
• Time management skills (on call and on-time)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License,
• Access to reliable transportation to and from work,
• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons check and Child Abuse Registry check,
• Must be willing to submit to random drug testing.
• Must follow dress code (proper weather clothing/ high visibility safety vests, and footwear -boots)
